Translator Week 3
Hello there! I’m Nieves, this week’s Translator. My job is to write down five words that I think can summarize the main concept of the task. Also, at the end, I make a question that appeals to the flaws that might be found in the task and answer it. Here we go!
The five words that I think should be remarked are:
Potentialities
According to the Cambridge Dictionary: “ability for development, achievement, or success that is natural or has not been used”. The task revolved around them and how many could be used and how in a classroom. Most of them were related to technology and the way it improves many areas of the students academic achievements.
Teamwork
It is a term very used in education that makes a group of students work together towards a main goal. Teamwork has proven to get positive results for years now, and when students work in this way, they tend to get better grades. It also helps them to trust other people and gives them a sense of responsibility, because in order to complete a task successfully everyone has to be on the same page and work together.

Outperform
It means to do better than someone or better than before. In the task, we used the term Outperform as a way of saying that visuals cues are very important for a student’s academic achievement. Students that use visuals for studying and learning, tend to outperform others who don’t and therefore get better grades. Technology provides us with many different tools that students and teachers can use to do that.
Creativity
Letting students use their creativity helps them engage with their school work and what they are studying. It enables them to have fun while learning. It can also be related to the idea of outperforming through visuals I said before and connections, too.

After looking at these words and the end result of the task, here is my question: Will the potentialities that the comic talks about work on every single student?
No. The potentialities that we highlighted in our comic were just suggestions that we thought would be very useful for students with similar backgrounds as ours, meaning country, time period, economical status, etc. We also need to understand that students are very different from each other and that some might need to use something that the others don’t for various reasons.

Connections
Within the context of the task, technology has provided us with the necessary tools to establish contact with people that can be on the other side of the planet. The ability to establish connections with many different people from many different places and cultures is an enriching experience for students. Ultimately is a learning opportunity.
