Translator Week 2
Hi! My name is Lucía Pujante and this week I am the translator. I am in charge of finding five concepts that represent the task that we carried out this week. Moreover, I must pose a question regarding the flaws of the task and answer it.
The five terms that I consider should be emphasized are the following:
TPACK:
TPACK stands for Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge. This kind of knowledge is necessary for being a teacher in the digital era. Technological knowledge means being able to use technological tools and devices in a fluent way. As for pedagogical knowledge, this is the specific ability to transmit the content to learners and adapt it to their previous knowledge and understanding. Regarding content knowledge, it is the amount of information about a certain subject matter that an educator is expected to possess and to transmit to their students.
ACAD:
ACAD stands for Activity Centered Analysis and Design. For learning to happen, planning an appropriate framework is essential. During this process, a teacher chooses what activities will lead to achieving the desired goals. After that, the next step is to design those activities, considering the tools and resources available, the specific task itself, as well as the groupings and interactions between the students while performing them.
Mind map:
It is a visual representation of some theoretical information, that allows to grab the key concepts of the subject and analyze them. Furthermore, it is a rapid and practical tool that can be useful in order to summarize a broader content of knowledge.
This week, we created a mind map for explaining what TPACK and ACAD refer to. This tool was definitely helpful for truly understanding the previous concepts.
Teacher:
All the terms that have been defined previously, are used on a teacher’s daily basis. A teacher’s goal is to guarantee its students’ learning. For that reason, they need to design the corresponding activities and for doing so in a successful way, the TPACK is crucial.
Emerging activity:
The result of combining the ACAD framework and the TPACK will be the emerging activity. This will lead to effective learning if it has been designed correctly and the conditions for implementing it are favorable.
Considered everything mentioned before, I would like to reflect on this question: Do TPACK and ACAD guarantee successful learning?
In spite of the fact that using the ACAD framework and having TPACK makes a big difference between a professional educator and a no-professional, as education is such a complex matter, with so many unpredictable variables, it cannot be said for sure that any preparation will lead to success.
