Analyst Week 1
Hello everyone!! My name is Lucia Pujante and this week I´m the Analyst. I have been in charge of answering a couple of questions, assessing our group, and composing our very first group reflection.
I hope you enjoy it!
This week’s task has taught us many things, which will be useful not only in this subject but also in many parts of our degree in Primary Education.
First of all, as we had to create a Padlet account and a blog, we have learned how to use each one of these platforms. As a result, we have gained technological competencies that are especially important for this course and for our future life, since we live in a digital era in which innovations take place really fast. Consequently, it is necessary to acquire a high domain of technological skills. In our case, this fact is crucial, as for being a teacher in the 21st century, it is crucial to be able to adapt to unexpected situations, as has been shown during this pandemic. Thanks to this task, we possess some new tools to apply in our degree and profesión for doing projects and engaging our students with their learning.
Furthermore, we have had the chance to work in a cooperative way. Working with peers is definitely beneficial, as it allows us to know different perspectives and to help each other. While working towards a common goal, we have had to perform different roles according to the tasks assigned to each one of us. Taking into account that our society is based on international relations and agreements, it is highly important that we learn what solidarity, respect, and cooperation mean.
Besides, we have seen our strengths and weaknesses as a group, so as to improve in the next weeks. The best moment of the week was on … when we organized the workload and had things clearer. In contrast to this, Wednesday was the most difficult moment for our group, due to the fact that we were not familiar with the programs we had to work with and therefore, we felt a little overwhelmed. However, in the end, we overcame the initial problems and enjoyed doing the task. The best part of the activity is the creativity it requires as we had total freedom to create our pictures. If we had to choose one drawback of this task, it would be the uncertainty we experienced because of our lack of expertise.
Taking everything mentioned before, our group should conserve its enthusiasm, creativity, and team spirit. We help each other when someone is in need and try to do our best. Although we need to become more efficient when using our time and are still novel in this subject, if we keep working and willing to improve, the results could be astonishing.
As for the teacher dimension, after doing this week’s task, we have more evidence that being an educator requires having a great command of the existing resources and their practical use in the classroom. In this sense, technology plays a determining role in boosting learning and making it more interactive. Moreover, teachers need to be open-minded and to be aware of the latest advances, in order to succeed. In the past year, everyone has been forced to update, including the education field.
Overall, if we observe the activity, we will be able to find its relation with current affairs. The pandemic context demands technological skills and resources, in order to avoid physical proximity. That is why the task enables us to put our technological competencies into practice and therefore, we find it useful for our profession.
